Heart Suturing Workshop
November 3rd, 2019
Thank you to everyone who came to our first ever Heart Suturing Workshop last Sunday. It proved to be a great success as from our feedback:
The average score for how useful and enjoyable attendees found the session was 9.2/10
Over 75% of our attendees felt that they had improved on their suturing skills
50% of attendees felt more interested in Cardiothoracic Surgery by the end of the session!
We would like to give special thanks to the doctors from the Royal Papworth Hospital for leading the workshop. They taught attendees a number of sutures including horizontal mattress, vertical mattress and angled suturing using both pig hearts and bananas. They also taught students how to tie hand knots and use a range of surgical grade equipment.
We plan to run similar events in the future, so please stay tuned!
